Someone has created an e petition to call on the government to lift the restrictions on photographing police officers.

Quote from the creator

"On the 16th of February, the Government passed a law (in the Counter Terrorism Act) making it illegal to take a photograph of a police office, military personnel or member of the intelligence services - or a photograph which "may be of use for terrorism". This definition is vague at best, and open to interpretation by the police ...

A cynical view of the camera industry?

QUOTED:

"Even those without any intimate knowledge of digital imaging know that camera market is centered around megapixels.

ZoomJust a quick look at any advertising for digital cameras and it’s clear that the pixel resolution is the top (and often only) bullet point. The problem, of course, is that the consumers respond to that one metric, so marketers push product development to increase the resolution without improving other aspects of the camera at the same pace.

Is there a quicker way to do judging ? Currently you have to sit for an hour or so listening to a judge giving a load of waffle to justify their fee, over pics that might or might not be all that great but as they are small prints in a large hall most of the members cant see them anyway…it just seems a rather mind numbing hour which would be far better spent letting the judge do his thing on his own, looking at the pics that could be on display for all to view and wander around places on those ...

Suddenly this afternoon, I am being bombarded (OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration) by Google based ads while I'm in the forum. Any particular reason why now? I've also had an ad coming up as a personal message, were't these blocked? I don't mind ads as such, they're how the site makes its money but being told I'm the 999 999th person to visit the site seems a bit of a stretch of the truth!

This is not a rant but don't know where else to post it.
Point 1. There is nowhere to post items relating to this site.
Point 2. The forum page that contains messages does not have the forum title on, I think it would be better if it did. When I get an email notification of a post I have subscribed to, it would be helpful if I knew what forum it was under. At present it just mentions the topic. Topic + post would be ideal.

I know that the pound isn't as strong as it was twelve months ago but are the manufacturers sure about sticking on 20% price increases on some of their items when we are in a credit crunch situation?

The problem with this is that the second hand sales of currently manufactured items are also going up even when the present owners paid a lot less for them!

I'll give you an example; a well known second hand supplier who advertises in AP is offering a Canon 1D MK III second hand at £2499 ...
