Dear all, I went to the zoo last weekend (remember that ultra sunny day?!!) I decided my skylight just wasn't cutting it so i thought a darker filter was needed so i put my circular polarising filter on. From this point on my exposure was really over exposed i was having to dial in upto 2 stops and this wasn't consistently working.

My apparently naive logic figured a higher the density filter would work. i switched back to the skylight and left it at 2 stops to check and as expected it was black!

Can anyone offer a technical explanation into this occurrence?

Many thanks Very Happy

Do you have any examples of the problem pictures online?

I'm very much still learning myself, so it would have been very interesting to analyse your meta-data and compare your pictures.

I think without the actual pictures it down to guesswork.

I don't think your logic was flawed, polarisers do reduce the light, that's a fact as afar as I know; so perhaps your recall of the events is not quite spot-on?
