Question for the forum. What is the best value studio flash worth buying? I ask as I use Portaflash but a friend bought some new equipment of eBay which was more flexible than Portaflsh lights at a fraction of the cost by an unknown maker.

I don't know portaflash but there are quite a few outfits advertised in the photo press.
Why do you need something different to what you are using at present?

This isn't for me. It is to open a debate on whether spending huge sums of money on Bowens and the such do actually give good value! Wink

Then I suppose it depends on what you want them for.
For event photography I wouldn't want to spend a lot, don't want drunken guests falling over expensive lights. Cheap & cheerful for that.
I would not go for the most expensive in a studio, mid range probably.
